Carmita is from the '98 Peruvian importation where each and every alpaca was scrutinized before being allowed to enter the U.S. We wanted only the best entering into our national herd, and Carmita was chosen. It's not difficult to see why.
Carmita is very straight and correct with gorgeous dark fleece and a sweet face. Her fiber is still quite dense and crimpy and the quality of her genetics shows through her offspring. Her cria have ranged in color from fawn to true black... |

Harpo's first cria has arrived. Claire is a lovely dark fawn with tight corkscrew curls covering her entire body. She is proof that Harpo can produce dark colored cria. Harpo's second daughter has been born. Jessica looks to be a lovely image of her maternal grand dam Carmita, a very pretty maroon with dark points. Harpo is now 2 for 2, two girls and both with color !!!
Peruvian Harpo comes from bloodlines that are nothing but the best. His ARI papers read like a Who's Who in the alpaca world - Maple Brook Bolero, Bueno, Guellermo and Epifania. Harpo's elite fleece comes from these genetics. He also gets color genetics from his dam's side. Carmita is a '98 Peruvian import. She was one of the few hand selected alpacas who made it though the rigorous screening process before entering this country. Carmita is a gorgeous maroon color. This means Harpo is definitely capable of producing dark colored cria.
Harpo himself is a solidly built herd sire with excellent conformation and a perfect bite. After reading his lineage, it is not surprising to find that his fleece is absolutely amazing. He has tight ringlets of curly Qs all over his entire body - his topknot, his blanket, and his legs. he's got a beautiful face and topknot and that nose to toes kind of coverage everyone is looking for.
